Obituary of Eugene Edward Gostinski

On Saturday, October 1, 2022 Eugene “Gene”Edward Gostinski (Luzerne) fell asleep in death at the age of 80. Gene was born on March 30, 1942 to the late Walter and Anna (Natt) Gostynski of Swoyersville PA. Gene was pre-deceased by a brother Walter “Sonny” Gustanski Saint Paul MN . He is survived by a brother Jerry (Susan)Gostynski of Larksville PA. His young years were spent in what was known as “the Patch .”He liked spending time in the woods at the “cabin” hunting and fishing. Eugene was a graduate of Central Catholic high school (1959) and he attended King’s college where he studied accounting. In 1962 he began his working career at Leslie Fay . Next he was an employee of Dana Perfumes Mountaintop PA for 33 years. For remainder of his career he was employed by Pride Mobility of Exeter Pennsylvania .
The happiest years of his life were spent with his wife Bonnie Jean (Ivy) of Meridian Miss. He was married to the love of his life for 49 years before her death in 2012. Gene is also a grandfather of 7 Heather, Deanna, Jessica, Candace, Morgan, Cole, and Stella Blue and great grandfather of 3 Noah, Naomi, and Elowyn.
He will be fondly remembered for his love of country music especially Johnny Cash, Don Williams and George Jones. Gene also loved spending time with good friends who he taught how to sip whiskey and drink good coffee. Authentic Polish cuisine (Haluska, piggies, kielbasa) was some of his favorite food.. Also he was known for always having a listening ear when the “friends “ needed him. Helping others learn about God‘s word was of utmost importance to Gene.
Family and friends will celebrate Gene‘s life with a memorial service on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1240 Scott St. Wilkes-Barre PA 18705. Local elder Marc Rosario officiating.
