Obituary of Anthony W. Cibello

Anthony W. “Sarge” Cibello, MSgt. USAir Force, Ret., 90, formerly of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away at the home of his daughter, Teresa, in Hubert, NC, where he had resided for the past 5 years.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre Township, a son of the late Emilio and Sophie Krulikowski Cibello. Tony was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, class of 1951.
He enlisted in the US Air Force, training and graduating from the Larson Air Force Base 4th Troop Carrier Squadron in 1953. Sarge served for 25 years with the US Air Force in the Korean War and 2 tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He retired from active duty in 1977. Following his service to our country, he was employed for many years at Sear’s as a mechanic in the lawn equipment department and at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home.
Sarge was an avid golfer and member of the Wyoming Valley Country Club. He enjoyed playing slots at the casinos, traveling all over the world, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, fishing and hunting. He always knew how to make people laugh. He especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren; and was a great friend to many. Sarge was a great example of how someone should live their life.
Tony was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Anne Towey Cibello in 2005 and by his son, Anthony E. Cibello in 2001. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Cibello, Rose Wassel and Lea Kish.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Killinger, Spokane Valley, WA; Lea Cibello Treadwell (Gene), Spokane, WA; Michael Cibello (Patricia), Bear Creek; Teresa Cibello Dubil (Michael), Hubert, NC and Michelle Cibello Campbell, Dover. DE; daughter-in-law, Patricia Cibello, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Nicholas Treadwell, Kristen Marlett, Anthony Cibello, Matthew Dubil, Christopher Cibello, Michael Dubil, Katie Cibello, Michael Cibello, Stephen Campbell and Sophia Campbell; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Joseph Cibello (Kathy), MD; numerous nieces and nephews and by Stephen Gawlas (Nancy), Hanover Twp., who he considered one of his sons, and many dear friends.
Funeral Services with Military Honors, will be held in Spokane, WA, where Sarge will be laid to rest with his wife, in Pines Cemetery.
