On Friday, April 3, 2020, Eleanor Zatzek Hargraves, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother peacefully fell asleep in death at the age of 85. Eleanor was born June 24, 1934 to Stanley and Josephine Zatzek. She was proud to be a loyal lifelong member of the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Eleanor loved to travel with her husband of sixty years, George Hargraves. Together, they visited many beautiful places and created lasting memories. She enjoyed relaxing on the beach, bird watching, Chanel No. 5, singing, dancing, and most of all, time spent with her family. In her early days, Eleanor worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Wilkes-Barre, PA. To the delight of her grandchildren, later in life, she was an employee of Gertrude Hawk Chocolates in Kingston, PA. Eleanor was a wise and patient woman with a beautiful smile. She unreservedly believed in God’s promise of a resurrection through his son Christ Jesus (John 11:25), and committed her life to teaching others about His promises (Joshua 21:45). She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul and Walter, and great grandson Ian Sargent. She is survived by her faithful husband, George Hargraves, three daughters, Joelle Hargraves and companion Richard Britton, Michelle (David) Gostinski, and Danielle (Stanley) Wielgopolski, and sister, Janet Zatzek Wenner. Eleanor was blessed with four grandchildren, Heather (Steven) Sargent, Deanna Gostinski, Hannah & Luke Wielgopolski, and two great grandchildren Noah & Naomi Sargent. The family will have a digital memorial service on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM, given by a local congregation elder, Brian Heidig. A private burial will take place on Monday, April 6, 2020 at Fern Knoll Cemetery, Dallas, PA.
