Betty L. Rushton June 30, 2024 Betty L. Rushton, 94, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Riverstreet Manor in Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Fine Woods. Betty attended G.A.R. Memorial High School. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years as a switch board operator at the Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Rushton and by her children, Edwina Stivers; Margaret Simmonette; William, Francis and Robert Rushton. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Benning; Carol Simms; and Jean DiMaggio; brothers, Bill, Jim, Jack, Gerald, Bob, and Ken Woods. She is survived by her children, Ella Greskewicz and her husband, Tony, Wilkes-Barre; and Edward Rushton and his wife, Arlene, Wilkes-Barre. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Cappellini and her husband, Ray, Bethlehem and Peggy Vino, Wilkes-Barre; brother, Philip Woods and his wife, Rita, Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 pm in the Chapel of St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1594 S. Main Street, Hanover Township. Rev. Carol E. Coleman will officiate.
