I am so sorry about the loss of Simon to your family. He was a close friend of mine for thirty years. We met at a celebration for the signing of a contract between the UFW and a large grocery chain. At that time I worked for the county and was an officer of an environmental group. He was very committed to organizations that fought for the under represented in our society. For three decades we often discussed the political and business news of the day. I always valued his opinions.
Simon often provided his home and yard for large fundraisers for numerous causes. He also hosted his church's family Easter egg hunt. Simon enjoyed planting special plants in his large yard. His favorites were Persimmon trees, camellias, sago palms, and others. We often went to special nurseries and horticultural events together. My son and I provided special care for those plants over the years. Simon loved his family, singing, his Russian heritage, eating, buying lottery tickets and so much more. He enjoyed life to its fullest. Before his gout and arthritis made it difficult, he loved to hike around Lake Arrowhead and spend time there. My family will miss Simon. Our condolences to his family. Love, Veronica Raymond
